Forsyth County students get scholarships from regional community foundation

GAINESVILLE — The North Georgia Community Foundation recently awarded $177,950 in scholarships to north Georgia high school students pursuing higher education this fall.

Twelve students from Forsyth County received foundation-administered scholarships.

Forsyth Central’s Ashyln F. Turner received $500 from the Donald & Kathryn Glover Educational Scholarship and Antonio M. Sifuentes was awarded $1,000 from the Charles Black Construction Co. Inc. College Scholarship Fund.

Lambert’s Kirsten E. Barth, Garret Gomez, Michael Morrison, Hunter Shepherd, John W. Stanford, Lester H. Weekes, Darron C. You and Sarah R. Youtsey each were awarded $700 from the Lambert Lacrosse Scholarship Fund.

West Forsyth’s Maren E. Loveland and Victoria Nahley each received $500 from the Charles Black Construction Co. Inc. College Scholarship Fund.

In total, the foundation awarded 105 scholarships from 29 scholarship funds.

Jim Mathis, the foundation’s president, said in a statement that the scholarship funds “make a difference in students’ lives across our region.”

“Our donors know when they create a scholarship fund they are investing in the future of these students and the future of our communities,” he said.
