Forsyth high schools washing cars to benefit Special Olympics

FORSYTH COUNTY — If weekend errands involve cleaning the car, they can also involve supporting Forsyth County’s Special Olympics program.

Each of the five local public high schools will hold car washes in separate locations Saturday, with proceeds benefitting Special Olympics of Forsyth, which organizes athletic and social activities for special needs students and adults throughout the year.

Though West Forsyth took the trophy home in its inaugural year, Forsyth Central has raised the most money for the past two years, said Annemarie Raygor, a spokeswoman for the local Special Olympics chapter.

The fourth annual car wash challenge will pit the high schools against each other to see who can raise the most money.

Stop by the following locations from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday:

* Forsyth Central — Kaufman Tire, Market Place Boulevard

* Lambert — Subway, 3130 Mathis Airport Pkwy.

* South Forsyth — Norman’s Landing, 365 Peachtree Blvd.

* West Forsyth — Midway Building Supply, 4865 Hwy. 9

* North Forsyth — Coal Mountain Elementary, Hwy. 369 (Matt Highway)
