Lanier Tech hails GED recipients

The Adult Learning Center at Lanier Technical College honored recent GED recipients during a ceremony Thursday night at the Forsyth Conference Center.South Forsyth Rotary Club President Renee Welch presented the Andy Miller Award to Katelyn McNamara, who will attend North Georgia College & State University. The $2,500 award is in memory of Miller, a former Rotarian.Other awards presented by the Rotary Club were $750 to Jessica Lynch, planning a career in nursing, and $100 gifts to Shaniya Clacken, Ariel Day and George Stanfield.Marielos Bond presented the Joseph A. Verdol Award to Michael Jackson, a student at Lanier Tech. The $300 award is in memory of Verdol, an advocate of the center’s programs.The Adult Learning Center offers classes for basic skills in English, reading, math and to help prepare for the GED exam.
