FORSYTH COUNTY — Though traffic this week may be congested with families traveling toward turkey, one type of vehicle that will be absent from Forsyth County roads is a school bus.

With Forsyth County Schools closed Nov. 23-27 for the Thanksgiving holiday, morning and afternoon commutes likely will be lighter.

Campuses and any school-related activities will be closed throughout the week.

“Based on feedback we received on calendar surveys, teachers and parents have favored the weeklong Thanksgiving break for family time and traveling, and also for the break prior to the end of the first semester and exams,” said Jennifer Caracciolo, spokeswoman for the school system.

The district’s central office will be closed on Thursday and Friday.

Once classes resume Nov. 30, school will be in session for three weeks before the semester ends and students and staff get two weeks off for the holidays.
