The Lanier Technical College Foundation has announced Brandy Bartlett as this year’s recipient of the Herbert Ascott “Buddy” Lang Jr. Memorial Scholarship.
Bartlett is a student in the college’s design and media production technology program.
The scholarship was created by family and friends to honor Lang, a lifelong resident and philanthropist in Forsyth County. He was also president and chief executive officer of Lang Signs, a sign manufacturing facility established in 1929.
Lang was passionate about continuing education and providing opportunities for others to succeed in his industry. Unique to this scholarship is the potential opportunity for a paid internship in graphic design at Lane Signs.
The mission of Lanier Tech is work force development. With more than 3,200 jobs added in the college’s service area since 2011, it is vital that the college be able to provide the job training to fill employers’ needs.
During the 2011-12 academic year, the Lanier Technical College Foundation awarded 283 students a total of $113,591 in scholarships.
