FORSYTH COUNTY — The Forsyth County Fire Department recently announced the winners and runners-up for its 2014 Fire Safety Poster Contest.

The three winners were: Diego Martinez of Brookwood Elementary School; Aubrey Chester of Sawnee Elementary; and Akshur Raghuram of Brookwood.

All three were treated to a pizza party with their classes and local firefighters.

The three runners-up were: Gibson McGee of Whitlow Elementary; Makayla Peacock of Matt Elementary; and Lainey Bayush of Matt.

The six students will have their artwork displayed in county buildings. They also were recognized for their creations during a recent meeting of the Forsyth County commission.

“We hope that the positive fire safety messages these young artists conveyed through their posters will be impactful to all who see them,” said Fire Chief Danny Bowman. “We are certainly proud of these students, and of every student who submitted a poster.”

All third-graders in Forsyth public and private schools, as well as home-schooled students, were encouraged to submit their own original designs and artwork for the fourth annual contest.
