Election guide 2010: State House District 24

The State House District 24 seat is being vacated by Tom Knox, who is running for state insurance and safety fire commissioner.

A runoff election, if necessary, would be Aug. 10.

There are no Democrats running for the seat, so whoever wins the GOP primary will claim the seat.

Why he’s running: “More than anything right now I just think government is just out of control. I truly believe that the people in the country are behind the change. I think people are getting involved and I just feel that commitment in this country to take our country back. ... This is that public service, that one thing I can do ... when you feel called to service, this is what you do and this is what I know. I know state politics.”
