Fire reported at business off Mullinax Road
Mullinax Fire 8-14

A local landscaping company near Denmark High School suffered heavy fire damage to its maintenance shop on Wednesday, according to authorities.

Authorities say that a business near Denmark High School, off Mullinax Road in south Forsyth, suffered heavy fire damage on Wednesday after a blaze spread unnoticed through the maintenance shop for a local landscaping company.

According to Division Chief Jason Shivers of the Forsyth County Fire Department, at about 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon crews of first responders to 380 Mullinax Road found a 4,000-square-foot metal building burning heavily.

Once on scene, firefighters discovered that the building was unoccupied and the fire had likely been burning for some time before it was reported, Shivers said.

The fire caused damage not just to the building but also to equipment that was stored within.

About 30 firefighters responded to this incident, Shivers said. All have cleared the scene safely.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Forsyth County Fire Department.

Traffic at the intersection of Sterling Pond Drive, Mullinax Road and Kitchens Road was briefly shut down while the fire was extinguished.
