Forsyth County firefighters will be doing their part in the coming weekends to raise money for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.
The local fire department will join more than 100 others statewide to help “Give Burns the Boot” this Saturday, as well as on May 14 and 21.
Donations will be collected at major intersections throughout the county.
The funds will be used for fire safety and prevention education, support for medical facilities and to help burn survivors recover.
Money will also go to Camp Oo-U-La, which is Georgia’s only camp exclusively for children with burn injuries.
Fire Chief Danny Bowman said the department is “privileged to serve in a giving community.”
“We are most appreciative of the generous support the boot drive receives every year,” he said.
A portion of the money collected will go to the local fire department to support education and prevention efforts in Forsyth County.
