The Forsyth County News recently welcomed a new member to its advertising team, announcing earlier this week that Carmela Barhany had been named the paper’s new advertising director.
Barhany, who oversees advertising sales for the Forsyth County News, South Forsyth News and forsythnews.com, replaces previous advertising director Ryan Garmon, who left in September.
Prior to joining the Forsyth County News, Barhany managed advertising, sponsorship and exhibit sales at the National Commission on Correctional Health Care in Chicago. She has more than 20 years of experience in publishing sales and operations and is a graduate of Roosevelt University with a degree in journalism.
“One of my greatest strengths is working with local businesses to help them develop campaigns that provide the best return on investment,” Barhany said. “I enjoy partnering with clients in order to help them achieve increased revenues and profits [and] I also believe that customer service is not just a department, it is everyone’s job, and we will strive to provide the highest level of service to our customers.”
FCN Publisher Stephanie Woody said she looks forward to Barhany’s insights and where she can lead the advertising team.
“We are pleased to have someone with Carmela’s leadership, marketing and advertising experience join our team,” Woody said. “She brings fresh ideas and tremendous belief in customer service to this position.”
Barhany currently lives with her dog, Ari. The two enjoy running and long walks. She said she looks forward to getting involved in the community and meeting local businesses to help them with their marketing needs.
