Four great places to see Christmas lights in North Georgia

With Thanksgiving over, the Christmas season is coming, meaning lights will soon begin appearing throughout the area.

Below is a list of Christmas lights for families to enjoy in Forsyth County and surrounding areas.

Christmas in Castille

Where: 4220 Tivoli Way, Alpharetta, GA

When: 6-9p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays Dec. 1-24

What it is: Christmas in Castille is a synchronized lights display in south Forsyth consisting of more than 57,000 lights on display. When arriving, guests are recommended to tune their radio to 89.9 FM. Last year, the event raised more than $3,000 in donations for charity.

Ashebrook Night of Lights

Where: Ashebrook Subdivision, Northridge Drive, just off Bethelview Road

When: Night of Dec. 18

What it is: The Ashebrook subdivision in northwest Forsyth will host their 11th annual Night of Lights on Dec. 18. The Night of Lights is a one night event put on by the majority of the more than 300 homes in the neighborhood. No donation is required.

Magical Nights of Lights at Lake Lanier Islands

Where: LanierWorld 7000 Lanier Islands Parkway

When: Daily 5-10 p.m.

What it is: Lake Lanier Islands offers a seven-mile long light display at LanierWorld. The lights have been on display each holiday season for more than 25 years and ends with at the Holliday Village, where attendees can meet Santa Claus.

Carload prices are $45 at the gate or $36 if purchased in advance online at www.lanierislands.com/lanierworld/.

Garden Lights at Atlanta Botanical Garden

Where: 1345 Piedmont Avenue, Atlanta

When: 5-10 p.m. until Jan. 7

What it is: Lights are on display at night throughout the Atlanta Botanical Garden. This year, a new “Walk of Flames” and expanded “Tunnel of Light” will join other favorites. The garden also has parades model train shows and chances to meet Santa as other holiday events.
