Forsyth County residents are coming together Saturday to raise money for a 5-year-old girl with brain cancer.

Donations collected at the fundraiser go to offset medical expenses for Olivia Lior Wampler, who plans to attend the event at the Midway Wal-Mart on Hwy. 9.

Event coordinator Reginia Alexander-Chandler said Wampler is in the middle of chemotherapy, but has “high spirits as always.”

“She bounces back like I’ve never seen,” she said. “This child was put on this earth to do something special.”

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Activities include a bake sale, auction, cake walk, inflatables, face painting, car show and live music.

Alexander-Chandler said members of the Atlanta Thrashers hockey team are expected to attend.

“It’s all for Olivia,” she said. “She’s a special girl. I know she’s taught me quite a few lessons on life.”

Olivia is the daughter of Joe Wampler and Angela Patrick of Forsyth County.
