The Bald Ridge Lodge is holding a “For the Boys” Golf Classic on June 15 at Windermere Golf Club.
“We currently have about 60 participants signed up,” said Gary Stout, the executive director of the Bald Ridge Lodge, a nonprofit center serving boys ages 12-17.
“We’re hoping for 100 registrants, but it sounds like we could have a lot of people show up the day of the event.”
The tournament begins at 1 p.m. Participants can register as a foursome or as an individual.
The event also features a hole-in-one contest and a putting competition.
Lunch and dinner will be served and there also will be music and silent and live auctions.
The tournament will also have a special guest. Lodge board member Perry Polsinelli said in a statement that organizers were “very excited” to welcome NASCAR Sprint Cup driver David Ragan.
“David is very committed to helping the boys we serve,” Polsinelli said.
The lodge, with the help of referring agencies and volunteers, focuses on reunifying and restoring families. Boys receive counseling, mentoring and participate in positive activities.
Tournament organizers hope to raise more than $25,000.
Lodge co-founder Buddy Lang said in the statement that tournament participants will be “supporting boys looking for a better start in life, and validating our reputation as a giving and caring community.”
