Upcoming workshops sponsored by Keep Forsyth County Beautiful will offer residents the opportunity to learn how to make their own rain barrels.

The first class starts at 6:30 p.m. July 15 in the Central Park Recreation Center. Cost is $45. The fee includes a plastic food-grade barrel and all supplies.

Class size is limited. Other workshops are scheduled for July 28, Aug. 6 and Sept. 2.

Payment must be received by the Friday prior to class.

"These are fun, interactive workshops and participants will leave with a ready-to-use rain barrel," said Tammy Wright, environmental program manager for the agency.

"Rain barrel workshops we have held in the past have been very popular. People are becoming more and more interested in things such as rain barrels that help them conserve water."
