The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a serious head-on collision that briefly shut down Canton Highway Thursday afternoon.
According to Cpl. Doug Rainwater, spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, at 12 p.m. Thursday deputies began receiving 911 calls that a grey Lexus traveling down Canton Highway was driving on the wrong side of the road.
Shortly after, they began receiving calls that two vehicles on Canton Highway had collided head-on, just east of Bethelview Road.
Rainwater said that the drivers of both vehicles were taken by ground to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with serious injuries sustained in the wreck.
The driver of the Lexus is being investigated as a possible DUI driver, he said.
Canton Highway has since been reopened and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Specialist Unit is on scene investigating the collision.
