ATLANTA (AP) — Forecasters say heavy rain — along with a risk of severe storms — is possible Monday afternoon and evening across much of Georgia.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City says a few thunderstorms could turn severe across north Georgia and parts of west central Georgia. Forecasters say the main threat will be damaging winds.

Forecasters say the heavy rain could also result in more flooding, and a flood watch has been issued for north Georgia and parts of west Georgia.

A line of strong thunderstorms moved across already storm-battered Alabama on Monday morning, prompting some few tornado warnings in southern Alabama and in the Florida panhandle.

There were no immediate reports of any damage from those storms.
