NORTH FORSYTH — A woman suffered minor burns Sunday night while escaping a home that had caught fire in north Forsyth.

Both occupants, an adult man and woman, were at the residence on Elrod Circle off Browns Bridge and Burruss Mill roads when the blaze occurred about midnight Jan. 31, according to Forsyth County Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers.

The woman suffered minor first-degree flash burns to one arm and did not accept medical attention, Shivers said.

The about 1,200-square-foot home sustained “heavy damage and is likely a total loss.” A family dog did not survive.

The blaze is thought to be accidental, though the exact cause remains under investigation.

The house fire was at least the second in a week that displaced a local family.

On Jan. 24, a family of four in west Forsyth lost their home on Pittman Circle, which is off Pittman Road near Kelly Mill and Bethelview roads, to fire. The residence and a vehicle parked in the driveway were destroyed.

A cause and origin of the blaze are not yet known, though nothing about the incident is thought to be suspicious, Shivers said.
