Former presidential hopeful and Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is scheduled to speak Sunday at First Redeemer Church.

Pastor Richard Lee said he’s been “dear friends” with Huckabee since the two met in 1991, when Lee was serving as president of a Southern Baptist pastors conference that then-pastor Huckabee attended.

During his two sermons Sunday, Huckabee will talk about his new book, “A Simple Christmas,” which Lee described as “the Christmas story and also about the state of our nation.”

“[He] is a very down-to-earth individual and speaks very clearly to the concerns of people today in a way they can understand,” Lee said. “The people of our community seem to like him very much.”

Signed copies of Huckabee’s book will be on sale at the church.

Mike Huckabee will speak at both the 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. services at First Redeemer, 2100 Peachtree Parkway.
