Bomb threat closes Dawsonville Sonic, roadways Friday afternoon
Authorities investigate bomb threat at restaurant

Hwy. 53 east was closed between the Ga. 400 and Dawson Forest Road intersections Friday afternoon for two hours as authorities investigated a bomb threat at the Sonic restaurant.

According to Dawson County Sheriff Jeff Johnson, at approximately 3:50 p.m.,  the 911 center received information that an anonymous caller telephoned the Dawsonville Sonic and made a bomb threat.

The roadway and business were shut down until the restaurant could be cleared, Johnson said. At approximately 5:50 p.m. the store and the adjoining roadways were re-opened.
