The 2012 Celebration of Hands Awards Banquet will recognize Forsyth County volunteers who work with local organizations and agencies.

Sponsored by the Forsyth County Community Connection, the banquet is set for 6:30 p.m. Monday at Windermere Golf Club.

The dinner and awards event is open to the public. Cost is $27 per adult or $13 per child ages 12 and younger.

“This special event gives us the opportunity to recognize and honor the volunteers that make our community great,” said John Clark, president of the community connection.

“We encourage the citizens of Forsyth County to join us at this year’s awards banquet to celebrate volunteerism and help us say thank you the volunteers who devote so much time and effort helping others and making our entire community a better place to live. It will be an inspiring and uplifting evening.”

Forsyth County Community Connection is a nonprofit organization associated with the Georgia Family Connection Partnership.

It connects volunteers and service organizations with children and families in need and coordinates the appropriate resources for positive outcomes for families and the community.

The organization also provides support to other local nonprofit service groups.

Through a branch of the organization called Hands on Forsyth, volunteers are matched with agencies that need the kind of assistance that each volunteer may provide.

Nicole Morgan, executive director of community connection, encouraged Forsyth residents to attend the awards banquet.

“This is our opportunity to show our volunteers how much we appreciate them,” she said.
