CUMMING — Those in the community looking for special holiday gifts will have a great opportunity this weekend.

From 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, the Cumming Fairgrounds will play host to the 20th annual Christmas in Cumming Arts and Crafts show.

Peter Jezerinac, one of the event’s organizers, said they ensure that each item is handmade.

“We’ve got almost 100 arts and craft vendors, lots of them have unique Christmas gifts,” he said “There’s lots of jewelry, there’s pottery. Everything we have here is handmade.

“We have art. A couple of booths have photos. We’ve got a guy that makes airplanes out of old Coke cans and stuff like that.”

The event will feature more than just gift ideas. From 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, there will be hayrides, caroling and marshmallow roasting. Also scheduled are performances by school musical groups. And on both days, Santa will be available for pictures.

“There are free photos with Santa on Friday night from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 3 p.m.,” Jezerinac said.  “A few local schools will be participating, one is a chorus group and the other is the Forsyth Central [High School] Drumline, they’re going to perform outside under the arena.”

The event will be held in the heated barn at the fairgrounds off Castleberry Road. Admission is $1 and free for children 12 and younger.
