FORSYTH COUNTY — A Forsyth County infant whose treatment for a congenital heart defect was recently chronicled in the Forsyth County News has died.

According to a Facebook page following her journey, Mary Beth Scott passed away Monday night at Boston Children’s Hospital, where she was being treated by specialists.

Scott was born with double ventricle right outlet and hypo plastic left ventricle, and was diagnosed with pulmonary vein stenosis in November.

A GoFundMe account had been set up to help her family with medical costs, living expenses while in Boston and to help with bills at the family’s local home. As of Wednesday night, it had raised more than $7,500.

According to the account Tuesday, it still will attempt to reach a goal of $10,000 “so we can give her the going home celebration she deserves.”

An update to the Facebook page, Mary Beth’s Heart Journey, said her family members are returning to Georgia, and will be “making arrangements to celebrate Mary Beth's life during the next couple of days.”
