WEST FORSYTH — The Forsyth County library system recently held a brunch to honor its volunteers.

More than 50 people — including staff, community volunteers and members of the library board and the Forsyth County Public Library Friends and Advocates group — attended the event April 9 at the Post Road library branch.

Jon McDaniel, executive director of the library system, thanked the volunteers for their many hours of service, while Mary Helen McGruder spoke on behalf of the library board to acknowledge their service.

Laura Bradley, program manager, discussed ongoing contributions of the Friends and Advocates group, particularly growth in the bookstore initiative, which in recent years has grown from one store to three.

Volunteers were each presented with certificates of appreciation during the event, which was organized by Cristie Edmondson, Vee Behler, Sarah Reynolds and Eva Wardrup.
