The magic of giving will fill the air Friday on Bucks Road in Vickery Village during the neighborhood's second annual Tour of Lights.

Starting at dusk on Friday, visitors are invited to view the festive holiday lights and decorations and at the same time support the charitable programs of the Forsyth County Lions Club.

Lions Club members will accept donations for the organization's vision and community programs at the entrance of Bucks Road.

The tour, which runs until about 8:30 p.m., raised $1,600 last year and attracted visitors from across Forsyth County.

“We started out just wanting to have a theme for our road, but we figured we could draw enough attention to the event that we could take donations for a worthy cause,” said Ann Parkhurst, who hopes to raise more money this year.

“So many children need glasses, and it’s great to know we are helping to fill that need.”

The nearly 30-home neighborhood will feature a winter wonderland theme, with some familiar characters walking up and down the road.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there, along with some of their elves who have taken time away from their toy workshop to attend. There also will be snowmen and gingerbread people.
