Join the Forsyth Chapter for an evening mixer with Loran Smith (ABJ ’62) at Vickery Village on Thursday, August 17. Come early and dine at one of the many restaurants and meet us in the courtyard as Loran regales us with tales from his time at UGA.
Loran Smith (ABJ ’62), longtime Georgia football sideline reporter and former executive director of the Georgia Bulldog Club, began his legacy as the MVP and captain of the UGA track team. Smith has spent most of his professional life at UGA and has held a variety of positions, including assistant sports information director, business manager, and member of the Athletic Association’s Development Office.
He has also served as executive producer of the football coach’s television show, packager of the game radio broadcasts, host of the Mark Richt post-game locker room show and continues to serve as co-host of the pre-game Tailgate Show. Smith has been a prolific author penning a regular column in the Athens Banner Herald and has written a number of books including: “Glory, Glory,” “Dooley’s Dawgs,” and “Between the Hedges.”
