CUMMING — Members of the Cumming Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America recently honored outgoing president Billy Darby.

Darby, one of the founding members of the chapter and its only president since it was established has decided not to seek another term.

The Cumming native and U.S. Army veteran said he had been honored to serve, but “with the chapter in good financial condition and with a strong and active membership, it’s time for new leadership and new ideas.”

While at the helm, Darby championed programs to support veterans, active duty military and the National Guard and Reserve, as well as supporting sick and underprivileged children.
