County may lease property in Polo

The Forsyth County commission has voted to draw up a five-year lease agreement with the Polo Club of Atlanta.

In the proposed deal, which was discussed at a called meeting and work session Tuesday, the county would become the tenant for property near the Polo subdivision.

In turn, the county could make improvements to areas that are used for soccer games, mostly on the weekends.

The plan surfaced after residents of the Polo community complained about a lack of oversight on the property. There were reports of soccer players trespassing on private property and misbehaving.

Commissioner Jim Harrell floated the idea.

The board voted 4-0 to put the revised version of the document on the agenda for its Feb. 5 regular meeting, where it could be approved.

Commissioner Patrick Bell was absent Tuesday.
