Market Place Boulevard is about to get longer.
Work is nearly finished on another section of the well-traveled retail corridor, said John Cunard, Forsyth County's engineering director.
The new stretch, which will connect Mary Alice Park an Bald Ridge Marina roads, is part of an extension of Market Place just inside the city limits.
"We're getting close," Cunard said. "We're probably looking at about two weeks."
Cunard said the traffic signal contracting company should be finished by the end of the week, at which time the remaining striping can be applied to the road.
Construction on the project began in 2006. The work has been paid for through 1-cent sales tax funds.
It's the latest development in the county's connector road program designed to offer motorists alternate north-south routes near the Ga. 400 corridor.
Market Place currently runs from Hwy. 20 to Mary Alice Park Road. At Hwy. 20, the road becomes Ronald Reagan Boulevard and stretches into south Forsyth.
