CUMMING -- Those wanting to use the Forsyth County park facilities on Lake Lanier will have to pay a little more than before.
At a work session Tuesday, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners approved new fees for campgrounds, boat launches and fishing tournaments. Matt Pate, natural resources manager, said the move was to keep on pace with the fees of others.
“Last year in 2015, for 2016 the Army Corps of Engineers increased their fees at their campgrounds, boat launches and fishing tournaments,” he said. “We were hoping to bring ourselves more in line.”
For Shady Grove Campground, fees for 30-amp hook-up sites increased from $26 to $28, 50-amp sites from $28 to $30. For two larger group campgrounds, the fees increased from $135 to $175 for site 106 and from $155 to $200 for site 107.
The increase for boat launches are: from $4 to $5 for daily use; $35 to $40 for annual use; and $15 to $20 for seniors.
Similarly, fishing tournaments will now be $20 instead of $15.
The fee change was discussed earlier in the year, but members of the parks board wanted to gather data on usage. The parks board approved the fees at a previous meeting.
The parks season ends on Nov. 7 and reopens to the public in March.
