A Forsyth County commissioner has been recognized by a state group for her achievement in continuing education.
Commissioner Cindy Jones Mills, who represents District 4 in north Forsyth, was among those recently honored by the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia, or ACCG, for completing core and specialty certification levels of the group’s Lifelong Learning Academy.
She was among those who completed a specialty track, which covers a specific topic in local government.
“I am happy to complete my Economic and Community Development Specialty Track for this ACCG certification,” Mills said in a news release.
“Understanding more about economic development helps me to be a better commissioner by educating me on more ways I can meet our economic needs.”
Other specialty tracks were for intergovernmental relations, public safety and citizen engagement.
The association is a nonprofit that helps provide leadership, services and programs for Georgia’s 159 counties. The policy committee reviews legislation and offers input to state lawmakers.
