Karen Shields has been hired as director of communications for Forsyth County, according to a press release Tuesday.
Shields has more than 20 years of experience in the communications field, including most recently as the communications manager and public information officer for the Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources. She’ll now oversee the county’s communications department, including county publications, media relations, county social media pages and internal communications.
“We have an incredible staff in our communications department, and we are very pleased to have Karen, a seasoned communications professional, join that team and be a part of our efforts to build upon the process of information communication to the citizens of Forsyth County,” said Forsyth County Manager Eric Johnson in the press release.
Shields’ first day is July 9.
