Like most, government offices for Forsyth County and the city of Cumming are taking Independence Day off.
Most local government departments will be closed on Tuesday to allow employees to celebrate the holiday. For Cumming, only the police department will be open all day, and the Cumming Aqautic Center will have limited hours from 1-4 p.m.
“We wish everyone a safe and happy July 4, and hope they will come out and join us in the city for our annual Independence Day festivities on Monday, July 3 and for the annual Thomas-Mashburn Steam Engine Parade on Tuesday, July 4,” said Crystal Ledford, spokeswoman for the city.
For Forsyth County, all departments except the sheriff’s office will be in closed, including some that have had different closures in the past such as the county’s three recreation centers, three recycling convenience centers and senior services.
The county’s animal shelter will also be closed on Monday as part of its normal Tuesday-Saturday hours.
All other departments in the city and county will be open on Monday and reopen on Wednesday.
