The public can review the proposed Forsyth County comprehensive plan update during the final workshop Thursday.

The session will focus on the community agenda as determined by previous public meetings and steering committee input.

Each component of the proposal will be available for review in an open house format.

Attention will focus on how the components relate and the ways in which the different sections come together.

The comprehensive plan serves as a guide for decisions involving future growth and land use.

It is a result of public planning processes that involve community members. The local workshops began in October.

Vanessa Bernstein, the county’s senior long-range planner, said public input is crucial.

“We certainly encourage the public to participate again by attending this final workshop,” she said.

The Georgia Planning Act of 1989 requires a local government’s comprehensive plan be updated at least once every 10 years.

The county must meet the state-required adoption deadline of Oct. 31, 2012.

Formal public hearings before the local planning board and county commission will also be held.
