NORTH FORSYTH - At 4:15 a.m. Christmas morning the Forsyth County Fire Department responded to a fire at 8110 Knight Road in Northeast Forsyth that took the life of a man who lived there, according to Division Chief Jason Shivers.

Shivers said crews found a fully involved fire upon arrival on scene and that the structure — an old chicken house converted into a living space — had already begun to collapse in the blaze.

According to Shivers, the body of one unidentified adult male was found after the structure was extinguished. He said that the male was known to be living in the structure alone with “assistance from the property owners.”

So far, there is no confirmation of the victim’s identification, and no next of kin in the area could had been located as of press time.

Shivers said that the cause of the fire is unknown at this time but that an investigation is underway. Forsyth County Fire Department will be working with the coroner’s office to identify the body as soon as possible.
