A Gainesville man was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after a head-on wreck involving a FedEx truck in south Forsyth.

Authorities said Jerry Raymond Miller Jr., 43, remained in critical condition Thursday at Atlanta Medical Center.

The wreck occurred about 4 p.m. on Union Hill Road, just northeast of Mullinax Road.

Forsyth County Sheriff’s Capt. Tim House said the Miller was driving a pickup truck north on Union Hill, a winding, two-lane residential road, when he apparently lost control.

House said the pickup crossed the centerline and struck a southbound FedEx truck head on.

The driver of the FedEx truck, 58-year-old Ronald Elbert Adkins of Forsyth County, did not report any injuries, House said.

Miller was flown to the hospital in Atlanta.

No other vehicles were involved in the wreck, which closed a portion of Union Hill.

House said speed may have been a factor in the collision.

No charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation.
