NORTHEAST FORSYTH — A 64-year-old woman was arrested Friday after she reportedly shot her husband during what authorities said was a domestic dispute at their Alton Avenue home.

Patricia Smith has been charged with aggravated assault with the intent to murder, according to Epifanio Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

As of Friday night, her bond amount, if any, was not available.

Gary Smith, 69, was shot several times with a .357 revolver at the residence off FAA and Pilgrim Mill roads, east of Cumming near Lake Lanier, Rodriguez said.

Gary Smith reportedly called 911 and was conscious when emergency personnel arrived.

He was taken to an area hospital, where he underwent surgery and was last listed in stable condition Friday night.

Rodriguez said investigators spoke with Smith before taking her into custody. There was no one else there during the incident.

The firearm was secured at the home, and there was no danger to the public during the incident.

It did not appear that alcohol or drugs were involved, Rodriguez said.
