Foul play is not immediately suspected in the death of a man whose body was found Tuesday in woods near the Hall-Forsyth County line.

Hall County Sheriff’s Sgt. Kiley Sargent said the body was discovered Tuesday afternoon in woods off Browns Bridge Road near Pine Forest Drive.

Teenagers on all-terrain vehicles made the discovery near a creek bed in the 5200 block of Browns Bridge Road, he said.

Investigators were able to identify the man, a Gainesville resident in his 50s, and spoke with his family who lives nearby, Sargent said.

As of Wednesday morning, his name had not been released.

He said family members had not seen the man in about three weeks, but did not report him missing.

It appeared the man had been dead for less than a week, Sargent said. He was partially clothed.

There were no obvious signs of gunshots, stab wounds or other trauma on the body, Sargent said.

The body was taken to the office of the DeKalb County Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

Sargent said the cause of the death could be pending toxicology tests.
