McDonald’s near The Collection at Forsyth evacuates for fire
McDonald's

One fast food chain was slowed to a halt Wednesday morning when its cooking equipment caught fire, causing the eatery to close down temporarily.

A grease fire in the kitchen led to the evacuation and closing of the McDonald’s at 2353 Atlanta Highway after employees made a 911 call at 10:45 a.m. Aug. 2, according to Forsyth County Fire Department Division Chief Barry Head.

Head said employees were able to extinguish “the bulk of the fire” before firefighters arrived and that no one was injured.

The blaze was contained to the cooking equipment, he said, of which the cause of the fire appeared to be accidental.
