Motorcyclist dies in crash in Cumming
emergency

CUMMING – A Cumming man was killed in a single vehicle motorcycle wreck early Saturday morning.

Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office deputies, along with the Cumming Police Department, responded to the Ga. 400 overpass on Buford Dam Road around 1:30 a.m. after receiving reports of the accident.

Donald Stone, 52, had been ejected from his 2003 Harley Davidson and thrown into a guard rail, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Investigators believe the motorcycle’s engine malfunctioned, which they say caused a large amount of oil to spray from the engine onto the roadway, the release said.

This, they think, led Stone to lose control of the motorcycle.

Stone died as a result of his injuries, and while the crash remains under investigation, it does appear alcohol was a factor.
