To volunteer this summer, visit Hands on Forsyth at www.handsonforsyth.org.
Teenagers and children as young as 8 can help give back to their community through several events this summer.

Hands on Forsyth is recruiting young volunteers for some summer help.

With projects ranging from river cleanups to writing letters to military personnel, there is something for every resident ages 8 to 18.

“Teens are looking for things to do over the summer,” said Kerry Rosewall, volunteer coordinator. “There are not as many jobs for teens with the economy being the way it is, so I think volunteering is a good thing for them to do.”

Volunteers younger than 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, Rosewall said.

With school out for summer vacation, Rosewall said it’s hard to get the word out to students. But that doesn’t mean there’s a shortage of need.

Rosewall said it’s good preparation for “school clubs or for teens who are looking to get some experience on their resume for college.”

“We can offer things for them to do,” she said.
