A Forsyth County man who died after being struck by a vehicle on Ga. 400 had apparently been drinking, authorities said.
According to a Sandy Springs police report, Michael Bryant, 28, was hit about 3 a.m. Sunday while in the southbound lanes of the road, just south of the Chattahoochee River in northern Fulton County.
Sandy Springs Lt. Steve Rose said Bryant was on his way back from Decatur in a taxi with his girlfriend and another friend, who had also been drinking, when they started arguing with the driver.
At some point while they were traveling north on Ga. 400 the driver pulled over and the passengers got out.
“At the same time, a Sandy Springs officer was on Ga. 400 north going home after work and saw the three people,” Rose said.
“He stopped and could see the two on the side of the road and (Bryant) in the median. At that time, (Bryant) leapt over the median and was struck.”
Bryant was pronounced dead at the scene.
As of Tuesday afternoon, no charges had been filed in connection with the incident.
Rose said authorities expect to interview the driver and other two passengers this week. Their names have not been released.
