Resurfacing of Hwy. 369 in north Forsyth delayed
road-work-ahead-sign

WEST FORSYTH — The resurfacing of Hwy. 369 (Matt Highway) from the Cherokee County line to Hwy. 9 in north Forsyth has been rescheduled for after Labor Day.

According to the state Department of Transportation, the decision was a result of weather forecasts.

When work begins on Sept. 8, the road will be closed from 8 p.m.-5:30 a.m. Sundays through Fridays.

Teri Pope, a spokeswoman for the DOT, has said the pavement surface and structure is damaged and needs to be replaced along the 10-mile corridor.

Crews from C.W. Matthews Contracting of Marietta will begin by removing and replacing damaged asphalt and then will resurface the entire corridor with new asphalt, creating a “much smoother roadway.”

The company has been awarded a contract of $3 million and is expected to complete the project by May 31.
