Sawnee Electric Membership Foundation recently awarded $52,332 to 11 local charities through its Operation Round Up program. The local charitable organizations receiving funds are:
• Habitat for Humanity North Central Georgia – they are building a home in Forsyth County for a family.
• Act Together Ministries – will use their grant to help local foster children and children in need of school supplies with the Tools for Schools program this summer.
• Family Haven – will use their grant to assist women and children, living temporarily in their shelters, with basic needs.
• MUST Ministries – will use their grant to assist families in Cherokee County with rent assistance and food.
• Community Helping Place – will use their grant for the summer lunch program for school age children.
• Cherokee Sheriff’s Foundation – will use their grant to purchase a device to assist in keeping citizens safe.
• Johns Creek Public Safety Foundation – will use the grant to purchase three specially equipped bicycles to patrol the new 191-acre park.
• Dawson County Wee Books – funds will be used to purchase books that will be sent to Dawson County children ages 0-5 years old.
• Dawson County Humane Society Inc. – will use funds to make the shelter more energy efficient.
• Bethany Place – will replace flooring in the shelter.
• Autrey Mill Nature Preserve Association – will use funds for several items that will enhance the experience of all visitors.
