Wednesday is National Senior Health and Fitness Day and two Forsyth County active adult centers will be hosting free programming to celebrate.
Activities will be held at Sexton Hall, 2115 Chloe Road, between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and Hearthstone Lodge, 7305 Lanier Drive, between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. No registration is required for either event and healthy snacks will be served at both.
“We are excited to show residents the benefits of fitness through various activities in a fun and safe environment,” said Forsyth County Senior Services Director Ruthie Brew in a news release. “Whether they are already involved with fitness or they’re beginners, we will have something for everyone.”
The events are meant for locals 50 and over.
Wednesday marks the 25th anniversary of National Senior Health and Fitness Day, and an estimated 100,000 participants will take part in activities at more than 1,000 locations across the country.
At Sexton Hall, the activities are “geared to those moderately active” and will include mini-exercise classes, game station and “information on how to dress for fitness success.”
The activities at Hearthstone Lodge are meant to for active adults and will have activities on the land, pool and nature trail.
