According to city of Cumming officials, a sewer in the city of Cumming overflowed nearly 500 gallons over the weekend.

City officials reported the spill near 1211 Bald Ridge Marina Road on Saturday, Dec. 14, when 480 gallons discharged from a city sewer into an “unnamed tributary to Lake Lanier.”

The cause of the spill was grease blocking the sewer line, and crews were able to jet the blockage and clear the line.

The incident is not considered a major spill.
