Sole Forsyth County Sheriff candidate to speak to veterans

Local veterans are encouraged to come hear from the incoming Forsyth County Sheriff.

On Monday at 7 p.m., American Legion Post 307 will hear from Ron Freeman, the only candidate running to be the Forsyth County sheriff, at the National Guard Armory on Aquatic Circle.

The event is open to members and veterans in the county and will give attendees a chance to hear from the presumed next sheriff and learn about veteran benefits.

The American Legion is the world’s largest veterans’ organization, and any veteran who served during a war-time era and received an honorable discharge is able to join.

Freeman won the Republican primary this summer, beating incumbent Sheriff Duane Piper. He is expected to take office in January.

The National Guard Armory is located at 100 Aquatic Circle, just off Pilgrim Mill Road.
