LAKE LANIER – The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office issued an unusual request Monday: for anyone with information regarding an urn found floating on Lake Lanier to please contact the department.
A Facebook post titled “Found urn” that was put up August 8 detailed that deputies recovered the urn, which was floating near the shoreline.
Deputy Epifanio Rodriguez, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said cremated remains were found in the vessel and that it was not a biodegradable urn – rather, a more traditional, metal one.
The post is all the information deputies have released, although they did leave out some identifying features to ensure the urn is returned to its keepers.
For any information regarding the urn, the sheriff’s office can be reached via social media or at (770) 781-3087.
