Voter registration deadline Monday
election

FORSYTH COUNTY — The deadline to register to vote in Georgia’s presidential preference primary is Feb 1.

Barbara Luth, Forsyth’s supervisor of voter registrations and elections, said the March 1 primary is only for presidential candidates.

“It’s the Democrats and the Republicans, each will have their own ballot for the presidential candidates,” she said. “We don’t have any special elections [at that time] in our county.”

According to Luth, voters have until 4:30 p.m. Monday to register at the office of voter registrations and elections, which is at the Forsyth County Administration Building in downtown Cumming, or by 11:59 p.m. Monday online at www.mvp.sos.ga.gov.

Luth said those wanting to register can also do so at the county’s library branches.

Registering for the March primary will ensure voters can participate in all of the elections in 2016, including the state primary May 24.

Voters who do not register for the March primary must register by April 26 to cast ballots in the May primary.

Those who register in person must have a valid license or identification card issued by the Georgia Department of Driver’s Services. More information can be found at www.forsythco.com/Departments-Offices/Voter-Registrations-Elections.
