FORSYTH COUNTY -- Two motorcyclists died following separate wrecks over the weekend in Forsyth County.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, a 55-year-old Roswell man was killed when he lost control of a 2008 Harley Davidson Electra Glide in a curve on Bay Drive in northeast Forsyth.

Doug Rainwater, spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said the single-vehicle crash occurred about 1:30 a.m. Sunday. The motorcyclist was identified as Scott Allen Leetz.

“[He] appears to have lost control,” he said. “Once it went into the shoulder of the road ... the driver was thrown from the motorcycle and he was pronounced dead at the scene.”

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The first fatality of the weekend happened about Friday night on Bald Ridge Marina Road near Ga. 400, east of Cumming.

According to Rainwater, it involved a 2008 Ford Expedition that was towing a boat and a 2006 Suzuki GSX 600 motorcycle driven by Conor Podwin, 25, of Cumming.

“They were both traveling east on Bald Ridge Marina Road,” Rainwater said. “It involved a lane change on the motorcycle’s part that resulted in the crash, causing the motorcycle to hit the Expedition.

“At that point, the motorcycle driver was injured and died at the scene.”

The driver of the Expedition, a 45-year-old Suwanee man, was not injured.

Rainwater said no charges have been filed “and we do not believe charges will be filed in this case.”

The deaths were at least the fourth and fifth of the year on Forsyth County roads, with all of them having occurred since March 26.
