Womans body pulled from Lake Lanier in apparent suicide
Longwood Park was shut down Wednesday morning as a body was pulled from Lake Lanier. The park has since reopened.

A woman’s body was recovered this morning from Lake Lanier at Longwood Park in Gainesville, according to Gainesville Police.

Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said someone found the body in the water and called authorities at about 8 a.m. The park was closed but has since reopened.

Foul play is not suspected. Holbrook said police have “every indication this was an apparent suicide.”

The body has been taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s laboratory for an autopsy.
